Solution

the regional soil. Significant mesh refinement is encountered to
accommodate the large changes in permeability over a small spacial
distance but the problem solves in reasonable time.

problem involves the modeling of a thin geomembrane liner underneath
fill. This problem demonstrates the ability of the software to solve
extreme differences in hydraulic conductivity and geometry. The problem
width is approximately 100m and the thickness of the geomembrane
is set at 1 cm. The geomembrane is described at the top of the tan
colored sand layer and is not visible at the scale shown above.
