SASKATOON, May 24, 2011 - SoilVision Systems Ltd. continues on the path of technical excellence with the full release of the SVSlope® 3D slope stability software package. This release marks the end of the extensive beta testing period. Over 100 beta testers lent their time and experience to the refinement process during the beta testing stage. Some of the more prominent, user-requested features include: |
· 3D visualization improvements related to results · Multi-wedge critical slip surface trial patterns · 2D slice visualization of 3D model results · Slicing of 3D models into 2D cross-sections for 2D analysis · Entry and exit searching method implemented in 3D |

Why use 3D? The majority of slope stability failures are inherently three-dimensional in character; that is, the failure surface most often represents a variation on a dish-shaped surface. Therefore, any 2D representation is a significant simplification of the actual situation. This video* (130MB download) is from a recent web presentation by Dr. Murray Fredlund and discusses the 3D question in some detail. For additional background, please visit this article. |

Viewing 3D Models as 2D Planes It can be difficult to interpret three-dimensional model results without good visualization tools. To address this, SoilVision Systems Ltd. has implemented the ability to view SVSlope® model results along two-dimensional cutting planes in any of the three standard directions (XY/plan view, XZ, or YZ). |
