SoilVision 4 Installation encounters dll error

If "The file 'C:\Windows\System32\Msvcrt40.dll' could not be opened. Please check that your disk is not full and that you have access to the destination directory." error message or similar message appears during installation of SoilVision on a computer running Windows Vista then the installation may not be possible. This problem is related to Windows Vista not allowing the installation of certain required dlls due to newer version already being present due to Vista or certain service packs being present.

SoilVision Systems Ltd. does not officially support the use of SoilVision 4 on Windows Vista. Try the installation on an older operating system.

SVOFFICE HAS ENCOUNTERED A PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO CLOSE

This error is typically caused by an outdated driver for the graphics card on the system. Updating your graphics card driver will fix this problem. Graphics drivers for typical graphics cards may be found at:

To find out what graphics card is currently on your system, please access the Device Manager. You can do this by right-clicking on My Computer and selecting Properties. A System Properties window will appear, please select the Hardware tab and click on the Device Manager button. If you have performed this correctly, the following window will appear:

Once you have identified which graphics card is on your system, finding the appropriate driver will be easier.

FIXING HASP DONGLE ERRORS

"Dongle not found", "Unable to start hardlock service" or other related security errors are typically caused by:

A) Improper dongle drivers installed

The following steps outline how to remedy the situation.

Step 1: Uninstall all existing Hasp dongle drivers.

This is accomplished by going to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and removing all drivers with phrases such as "Hasp Device Driver" or "Aladdin HASP".

Step 2: Re-start your computer. This step is required to complete the device driver removal.

Step 3: Download and install the Hasp drivers from the Aladdin support website or from your CD. If using the Aladdin website, look in the "End-User Downloads" section for "Sentinel HASP".

Step 4: If you are running SoilVision and SVOffice together, you may need to install the legacy drivers in addition to the new drivers. You can download the legacy drivers from the SoilVision download page or from your CD (look for /HASP/hdd32.exe).

Step 5: Your SoilVision and/or SVOffice products should now run without errors.

Step 6: If the dongle errors still persist, please contact us for further help. From your web browser, also visit the URL http://localhost:1947/. This is a diagnostic page that lists all dongles (network and local) available to your PC, which you should include in your message.

B) USB Conflicts

Other USB devices may interfere with network dongle operation. If the above or similar error message appears, try removing all the USB devices on your computer.

THE SPECIFIED MODULE COULD NOT BE FOUND. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E)

The above error message may indicate that your computer is missing the file msvcr71.dll (a module containing standard C library functions such as printf, memcpy, and cos. It is a part of the Microsoft C Runtime Library).

Download the missing file and save it to the SVOffice 2006 installation directory to solve this problem. (SVOffice 2006 installs to C:\Program Files\SoilVision\SVOffice 2006 by default.)

MISSING MODEL DIRECTORY AFTER INITIAL INSTALL

Some recent copies of SVOffice 2006 do not properly create the model directory when first installed. There are two ways to fix this issue:

  • Manually create the directory C:\SVS\Model_Files\ on your computer, then rerun the software. Please note that you may need to create both directories. You should now be able to download the library of example models and use the software normally.
  • Download the latest version of SVOffice 2006 from our website and install. The issue should be resolved automatically by the software.

Please note that this issue does not affect anyone with a working model directory, it only affects first-time users.
