Problem:
Much fresh water obtained for municipal use comes from pumping groundwater. As wells are installed and regional groundwater resources are pumped there are zones of depression which are created in the groundwater table. Relevant questions include:
- How much pumping can be performed without depleting the resource?
- After pumping how long will it take the groundwater table to return to steady-state conditions?
